Gateways Overview

Wireless technology provides solutions to many applications problems and there are many topologies and protocols that are optimised for the requirements that need to be served.

However, few networks exist in insolation and it is usually necessary for control commands and data to be communicated remotely to the wireless network via a concentrator gateway, interfacing to an entirely different protocol. The wide availability and use of the internet and PC systems means this is often Ethernet or USB. Because these are so common, these protocols are often viewed as a commodity product but that does not make them any less complex.

Cyan has developed a range of products that provide a ready-to-go gateway solution:

Gateway

The Gateway is a single board solution containing everything needed to add high performance Internet and USB connectivity to customers' system designs.

RF Gateway

The RF Gateway module provides a bridge between its Ethernet, Serial and USB connections and Cyan's Cy-Net mesh network.

GPRS Gateway

The GRPS Gateway module provides a bridge between its Ethernet, Serial and USB connections and Cyan's Cy-Net mesh network. The board contains an eCOG1X microcontroller as well as SimCom GPRS module to allow customer connection through the GPRS network.
