Ethernet-Solved™

Ethernet-Solved is a comprehensive Ethernet solutions package including six Ethernet enabled members of the eCOG1X microcontroller family. Cyan now offers two alternative TCP/IP stacks which address distinct size / performance points. Both are open source and were originally developed by Adam Dunkels at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science and so are available free of charge from Cyan, ported to the eCOG1X microcontroller devices.

lwIP (light-weight internet protocol) is capable of supporting a full scale TCP. This makes it suitable for use in embedded systems with tens of kilobytes of free RAM and around 40KB ROM.

uIP provides the necessary protocols for internet communication with very small code and is able to fit inside the internal memory of the microcontroller but has restricted performance.

Using Cyan's USB / Ethernet-Solved™ Development Kit demonstrates the power of Ethernet-Solved within the CyanIDE® 2 environment. The kit target board exists as a template within the tool and ready to run example applications show how to use the driver library. The result - easily integrated, expandable and re-usable firmware that allows Ethernet applications to be built in minutes.

Project templates are available for applications such Telnet and Webserver, building on the uIP stack. Bridging to USB-Solved™ is also supported with for example, a webserver serving pages over Ethernet to a standard browser where the pages have been stored on a standard external USB flash disc.
